What is the Case Competition?

The annual SMA Case Competition gives students the opportunity to develop a solution to a problem outlined in a case and present the solution to a panel of judges from companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, New Engen, WWU faculty, and other local and Seattle area marketing firms.

Other valuable experience includes networking opportunities with the judges and enhancing strategy, quick-thinking, presenting, and marketing skills. It's a great resume booster and provides real-world experience to participants.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email sma.wwu@gmail.com.

How Does it Work?

Participants will sign up in teams of three, or individually, and we will try to assign individuals into teams of three. This year will be virtual via Zoom and teams will have about a week with a real-world case to prepare their solution. Teams present live to a panel of industry professionals (5/6). After the presentations, students and judges will join other alumni for a special networking “Meet the Professionals”  event at the end of which finalist teams will be announced. Finalist teams will return to present the next day (5/7) to an audience of their peers, marketing students, faculty, industry professionals, and alums and a special judging panel will determine the winner and award prizes.
